RTribe Weaknesses

Goals

To provide the weaknesses of rTribe in order to create a competitive advantage and opportunity for a new sex and porn addiction therapy app.

Early Findings

  • Bugs and glitches: One major weakness made evident by the complaints made by users of rTribe is the recurrent glitches and bugs on the app including problems setting up an account, log in, premium subscription, access to videos, viewing progress, finding friends, and update problems all arising from a poor app design. There are also numerous complaints about the UX/UI experience and poor layout.
- "Bad UX/UI experience Glitches and bugs everywhere I'm no hater, the idea is pretty good, but the realization is really bad."
- "Videos aren't playing on the app. Please fix it."
- "Great app, but I've been facing repeated issues on receiving and sending messages!"
- "Helpful but buggy."
- "It’s pretty glitchy in that sometimes it won’t let me click on something."
  • Payment and subscription: rTribe is barely helpful without a premium subscription or paying for counseling.
- "But ultimately unless you pay for counseling there is nothing else truly helpful."
- "Great except you have to pay for most features."
- "You seriously have to pay to keep track of the days you've had setbacks in the month? if you can't keep track how are you supposed to get a hold of it?"
- "Can't do much besides tracking your current sobriety unless you pay."
- "The communication from RTribe is nonexistent"
- "Many months have gone by and there has been no response from rTribe, and the app has not improved."
- "No support when reaching out to support. also the pop up will not go away unless you hit back button."
- "App stopped loading with no resolve and no reply from support."
- "I’ve sent 3 emails over the past weeks and gotten no response."
  • Gender bias: A few users have complained that the app appears to be created for men, although both genders have sex and porn addiction problems.
- "I was about to start one of the courses but realized after listening to the beginning of the video that apparently it’s only for men. Really disappointed because women have this problem too."
- "Great app for men who are serious about recovery!"

Summary

In finding the weaknesses of rTribe, we concluded that the best strategy was to analyze reviews from its users. This strategy was successful as it helped uncover some of the apps weaknesses. In making sure that our analysis is not biased or wrong, we made sure that each weakness included in the early findings stemmed from more than one comment from reviewers. For transparency, we also quoted some of the reviews and comments.
Overall, we found that most users find the idea and purpose of the app worthy and helpful. The weaknesses and complaints came from the app organization and follow-up.
