Banks - Consumer Rewards Credit Cards: United States

Goals

To understand which banks, in the United States, issue consumer rewards credit cards (which would include regional banks and national banks). To find out for each of those banks, whether they offer cash back or points, and if cash back, whether they offer above 1% back on any transaction types. Additionally, to know if it is points, do they offer above 1x for any transaction types, and what the approximate value per point is, and finally to know what kind of sign-up bonus they are offering. To have all of that in a Google spreadsheet.

Early Findings

Summary Of Our Early Findings Relevant To The Goals

  • Here is the spreadsheet we have created that is set to viewable only. If approved we will make a copy of this and make it shareable and editable for our analysts.
  • Our first hour of research clearly showed that almost all banks, whether regional or national, offer consumer rewards credit cards.
  • We were able to provide 10 banks in the initial hour of research where we verified the fact that they do offer consumer rewards credit cards.
  • Please select one or more of the options provided in the proposed scoping section below.

Proposed next steps:

You need to be the project owner to select a next step.
We are suggesting research that provides for the 10 banks we have already found, and for their consumer rewards credit cards, the following information: whether they offer cash back or points, and if cash back, whether they offer above 1% back on any transaction types, whether if it is points, do they offer above 1x for any transaction types, and what the approximate value per point is, and finally what kind of sign-up bonus they are offering. This will be presented in a google spreadsheet. As Chase has 28 credit cards, this must be a separate research all on its own, and we will likely create a separate tab for this bank because of the sheer volume of information. The remaining nine will be done in three separate research sprints. Please check this box if we should proceed with this research.
We are also suggesting more research to provide an additional 20 banks in the United States that issue consumer rewards credit cards. For this, we will provide high level information. This means that we will provide the name of the bank, how many consumer rewards credit cards they have, and links to each, as was done in the initial research. Please check this box if we should proceed with this research.
If more detailed research is required on the 20 banks we find in the 2nd proposal, we can provide that on the same google spreadsheet. As we are not sure how many research sprints that will be, we are over-scoping this portion to reflect the most it would be. It will depend entirely on how many rewards credit cards each bank has. We will scope down accordingly based on what we find. Please check this box if we should proceed with this research.
