Early Findings

Behavioral Modification Tools

  • Noom is a subscription-based, weight loss app, built on behavior modification techniques. [3] It offers coaches who help "set achievable goals and keep you accountable." [4]
  • Most weight loss apps have a behavior modification element, as they are intended to make the user pay closer attention to their food intake. Some top apps are MyFitnessPal, Lose It!, WW (Weight Watchers), Fitness Buddy, Nike Run Club, Runkeeper, Endoondo, JEFIT, Nike Training Club, DailyBur, MyNetDiary, Pacer, Instant Heart Rate, Fooducate, and Strava.
  • Meal planning apps may also fall into the behavior modification approach to weight loss, as they offer a more thoughtful approach to health eating.
  • While not its intended purpose, Invisilign teeth straightening alternative, has the side effect of weight loss for some people because it has to be worn from 20-22 hours per day, which deters some patients from snacking.
