Goals
To inform the strategy for developing an app that tackles porn and sex addiction by providing a list of existing apps that tackle porn and sex addiction, their marketing tactics, and quotes/statistics/data points on the industry.
Early Findings
Virtual Therapy Apps Tackling Sex and Porn Addiction
Overcome Porn
- Overcome Porn, also called the "Reboot App" is an app that offers virtual therapy for porn addicts. The virtual therapy offered is a 40-day program "that helps break free from the temptations of pornography" which eventually "helps tackle sex addiction."
- Although this app's primary feature is helping addicts break free from porn, the app is also targeted at religious education and Christian soul winning.
- The app has the following features: "a brief reading, specific topics related to porn struggles, videos/articles/podcasts for deeper learning and reflection, questions to journal insights, a chart to track progress."
- Overcome Porn is based on "the learning of those who were able to conquer internet porn addiction." It changes the brain's perception of porn from something good to a "disgusting act."
rTribe
- rTribe is a "counseling and habit change platform that offers an innovative smart-match solution" that connects addicts to "the best-licensed therapists and certified coaches, combined with world-class peer support, accountability, and analytic insights."
- The app also features a community that allows users to connect and track each other's progress.
- rTribe's features include online support from expert counselors and coaches, messaging and video options, and a community to interact with.
My SAA Toolkit — Recovery Tool
- My SAA Toolkit is a recovery tool for sex addicts — "Sex Addicts Anonymous." It offers a virtual journal that allows addicts to document their thoughts and experiences with utmost privacy.
- Its features include: a journal, a gratitude list, spot check inventories, abstinence birthday calculator, access to the AA Daily Reflections,
and most importantly, it is anonymous.
