GoalYou'd like to find some fun facts about Canadian Independence Day, which is July 1st, that would not commonly be known by Canadians.
Early FindingsIn celebration of being neighbors, Canada and the United States celebrate both of their independence holidays together during the first week of July at Niagra Falls, usually with large fireworks displays.
There is an annual race across the Georgia Strait on Canada Day when participants turn bathtubs into motorboats. The race began in 1967.
On Canada Day weekend, residents drink over 1.2 million liters of beer from government-run liquor stores alone.
The largest celebration of Canada Day outside of Canada occurs in Sydney, Australia.
In Quebec, it is tradition to have apartment leases end on Canada Day, and many residents refer to the holiday as Moving Day.
