UX Design Companies in North America and Europe

Goals

To determine the number of companies in North America and Europe with at least 1 UX designer (product or web) in order to calculate a total addressable market estimate.

Early Findings

We were unable to find one statistic for North America in our preliminary research to determine the number of companies with at least 1 UX designer for this region. Therefore, we gathered information from data that was the most recent and publicly available by country. Here are the key pieces of information we found:
Number of UX Design Companies in North America and Europe:OverviewAccording to a 2019 survey by InVision, 52.2% of UX design companies are located in North America, and 28.7% of UX design companies are located in the entire EMEA region. (Europe, Middle East, Africa)
 54% of these design companies surveyed shared that designers reported directly to the Product department. 
North AmericaThere were over 238,000 UX designers across 129,000 companies in August 2018 in the United States from information that is the most recent and publicly available.
There are approximately 7,000 UX design companies in Canada from information that is publicly available. 
There are at least 138 UX design companies in Mexico from information that is publicly available. 
Therefore, a preliminary estimate of the number of UX design companies in North America so far from estimates in the United States, Canada, and Mexico is approximately 136,138.
