• According to Giving USA's 2019 and 2020 reports, Americans contributed a total of $427.71 billion to charity in 2018 and $449.64 billion in 2019.
• In 2018, giving by individuals totaled an estimated $292.09 billion, a figure that grew to $309.66 billion in 2019.
• Additionally, international giving was valued at $22.88 billion in 2018 and $28.89 billion in 2019.
• According to Funds for NGOs, donors have worries of their own when donating to charitable organizations. These worries emanate from the fact that donors have to make reports to their government, tax authority, accountants, board members, and the public.
• This factor has resulted in many donors being very risk-adverse as they maintain "high due diligence requirements and set high reporting standards" to the organizations that they give to.
