Global Consumer Healthcare Trends

Goals

To get a comprehensive analysis of the major trends/shifts in the global consumer healthcare category and how they are influencing the consumption or delivery of healthcare services. Trends can be around social changes, political dynamics, or shifts inside the healthcare category.

Early Findings

During our preliminary research, we were able to uncover two major trends in the global consumer healthcare sector. Below is an overview of our early findings.

Costly Chronic Care Needs

  • New and innovative delivery models in precise diagnoses and detection of diseases are helping in minimizing the cost of treating chronic diseases. For example, "genome sequencing and molecular diagnostics" have provided a better outlook of the "precise nature of diseases and pathways" and proved helpful in developing personalized treatments.

Consumer Skepticism

  • Consumers in the healthcare sector are increasingly demonstrating a lack of trust in conventional healthcare systems. They are more willing to meet their healthcare needs from the non-health sectors by relying on emerging tools and technologies as well as the non-traditional options.
  • Emerging markets in non-traditional healthcare solutions are challenging the conventional healthcare systems and relying on "technology and mobile health (mHealth)" to meet the consumers' needs.
