Green Travel Programs

Goals

To obtain a breakdown of what the major business travel companies (CWT, American Express GBT, BCD Travel, Direct Travel, and Gant Travel, for instance) are offering in terms of sustainable or green travel for their clients so they can reduce their carbon footprint when traveling for business. This will be for the purpose of advisement.

Early Findings

CWTAccording to CWT's 2019 Annual Responsibility Business Report, one of the company's 2020 goals is to "proactively propose carbon offsetting to clients."
In 2018, the company "explored possibilities to integrate carbon offsetting into our service offerings" as a step toward its 2020 goal.
In 2019, the company stated that it will "continue to explore possibilities to integrate carbon offsetting into our service offerings."
As such, it does not appear that any type of carbon offsetting services are currently offered to CWT's business travel clients. 
The company does, however, have an internal carbon offsetting program that it has continued to develop.
American Express GBTAmerican Express Global Business Travel customers can have their carbon footprint measured through its analytics platform called Green Insight.
Green Insight is helps businesses "measure, monitor, and reduce their travel-related carbon emissions."
Business travelers can see the potential environmental impact of their travel choices when booking their trips.
