SWOT Analysis - GNC and Swisse

Goals

To understand the position of GNC and Swisse in Hong Kong and Singapore by identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats each of these companies have in these respective markets.

Early Findings

  • One of the strengths of GNC in the Hong Kong supplements market is the large number of stores they have, with 92 physical stores in the region as per their 2019 annual report.
  • In addition, GNC has been part of the supplements market in Hong Kong since 2003, which could provide it with a better understanding of the market over newer competitors.
  • A marketing campaign launched in 2019 shows this understanding, as it focuses on the hectic lifestyle of Hong Kong residents, making the marketing strategy of the company one of its strengths.

Summary of Findings

  • Our initial hour of research focused on three things: ensuring that all the information asked for was publicly available, building the attached spreadsheet to provide the required SWOT analyses, and providing strengths for GNC in the Hong Kong market.
  • We did not have time to address the other sections of the GNC Hong Kong SWOT or the three remaining SWOTS. This can be achieved with further hours of research.
  • In addition to this public search, we scanned our proprietary research database of over 1 million sources and were unable to find any specific research reports that address the goals.
