Research Outline

Carbon Credit Issuance Companies: Funding Data

Goals

To have funding information surrounding carbon credit issuance companies over the past 24 months, and then separately, a cumulative total over the past five years. An ideal response would be delivered in a Google spreadsheet and include Patch, Wren, and Climeworks and the amount raised. Additional players should also be located.

Early Findings

  • Wonder does not work in Excel. We can provide a deliverable in a Google spreadsheet if a Spreadsheet output is desired.
  • We were not provided a geographic focus for this project, so we assumed a broad approach and looked globally. If a more targeted approach is desired, for example, the United States, this would have to be clearly communicated to us in any reply.
  • We have created a custom Google spreadsheet and started populating it with data surrounding Patch and Wren. We also placed Climeworks in the spreadsheet , but we did not have time to provide any data for that company.
  • We located five additional carbon credit issuance companies and placed them in the spreadsheet. They are: Offsetra, Pathzero, Terrapass, Carbon Click, and Carbon Trust. We were able to get their website links, and year founded and placed that data in the spreadsheet.

Summary Of Our Early Findings Relevant To The Goals

  • As a reminder, Wonder only uses publicly available sources. We do not have access to paid databases or paywalled reports, but we can cite them in research for reference only [in case purchase is desired]. If that is of interest, that would clearly have to be communicated to us in any reply.
  • As discussed at the top of this document, we were not provided a geographic focus for this project, so we assumed a broad approach and looked globally. If a more targeted approach is desired, for example, the United States, this would have to be clearly communicated to us in any reply within each appropriate scoping box.
  • Our initial hour of research was spent scanning to ensure the research questions could be answered in the public domain. This should be possible, though there might be times that a premium account will be required depending on the company and where the company is located. We cannot view anything behind a premium account or a paywall. In those cases a n/a will be provided. We were able to provide data for both Wren and Patch in the initial hour, as well as create the custom Google spreadsheet, and we located five additional carbon credit issuance companies and placed them in the spreadsheet.
  • We could not locate a recompiled list of carbon credit issuance companies. We can find more than the five provided in the initial hour of research, but they will have to be individually reviewed and then we would have to check both Crunchbase and Pitchbook to ensure the data required for them is publicly available before confirming we could use them.
  • Please select one or more of the options provided in the proposed scoping section below.
