Goals

Determine the number of businesses, average annual revenue per business, and average customer lifetime in the United States for the florists and nurseries, flooring companies, personal security, auctions, and assisted living industries to inform initial research for an SaaS startup.

Early Findings

Personal Security CompaniesAccording to Robert H. Perry, there were approximately 8,000 private security companies operating in the United States as of July 2019.
Of the $27 billion generated by this industry, $15.6 billion is generated by only five companies. 
The U.S. personal security industry has had steady growth, including 6 percent annual growth in 2018.
The market size for personal security companies is $40.1 billion with a growth of 1.8 percent in 2020.
Flooring CompaniesPer IBISWorld, there are 101,667 flooring installers in the United States.
The market size for flooring companies is $19 billion.

Summary of Early Findings in Relation to GoalsThe first hour of research involved outlining the project to determine if the requested information is available and creating a shareable, editable spreadsheet for data entry. Some relevant initial data was entered into the spreadsheet; this work can be continued as requested.

While some of the requested data was readily available following a high-level search, not all the data could be initially confirmed or located. As such, some triangulation or use of older data (5-10 years old) may be required to provide an approximation of the industry. Wherever this is the case, a detailed explanation will be included to demonstrate how the data was calculated or acquired.
