Research Outline

Animal Experimentation in PTSD Update

Goals

To determine the amount spent on treatment and research for PTSD annually. This information should include a breakdown of the portion spent on animal experiments. This is an update on research completed by Wonder in 2017. The information will be used by a small non-profit organization working to end animal experimentation.

Early Findings

PTSD Research in the US

  • The NIH Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tools (REPORT) provides the annual support level for research into PTSD. The amount spent on PTSD for the years 2016-2019 is detailed below. Estimates have been provided regarding the 2020 and 2021 spend.

Summary

  • In our initial hour of research, we have attempted to replicate the research of the updated 2017 project into the same subject matter. Unfortunately, in the intervening years since that project was completed it appears that the REPORT database has been overhauled, so we were unable to replicate the 2017 results (from 2016) and apply them to the 2019 given the time constraints.
  • Given this information has been available previously, it is highly likely it will still be available for 2019.
  • For any questions regarding the pricing of the project, we suggest contacting customer support (support@askwonder.com).
