Early Findings
Data Availability
Initial research shows that adequate data is available to respond to this request.
Early Findings
Case Study #1 - Risk Reduction
A
financial services organization
needed better insight and control of their dark data.
This global company had 50,000 employees and faced
legal, operational and security risks.
Some of the risks discovered included
unsecured sensitive data
, personally identifiable information in unsecured locations and more.
Some of the results included
remediation
of over 4.5 petabytes of unstructured data.
Case Study # 2 - Health Care
Indiana University Health is examining ways to use dark and unstructured data to
improve patient health care
.
They have discovered that incorporating insights from
additional transactional data
provides more useful, cost-efficient care.
Data being mined includes
free form notes and audio files
.
They are also looking at other data to
determine patient patterns
and incorporate socioeconomic factors that can affect patient engagement.
Summary
Within the allotted one hour of initial research, we were able to provide summary information on two case studies in the area of dark data and its usage in large corporations.
However, due to the paucity of time, we were unable to provide detailed information on these case studies or outline the other study we found.
We were also unable to deep dive into some of the other dark data information and insights, such as the use of NLP in analyzing dark data.
Additional information can be uncovered if further hours are allotted for additional research. Details on our recommended research paths have been provided in our proposals below. Please select one or more proposals from those provided.
