Why Vegans are Disliked

Goals

To obtain information on why vegans are hated, why, the impact of such dislike them and the society, what can be done to change that issue, and examples of organizations, countries or groups that are working to solve the issue, with a view to writing a book on the subject.

Early Findings

Why Vegans are HatedIn a study done in 2015, it was found that vegans as well as vegetarians endure the same bias and discrimination as minorities.
According to study by MacInnis and Hodson, drug addicts is the only group hated more than vegans.
One theory suggests there is hate for the vegans because it makes people feel guilty or condemned for eating meat. SInce this is a matter of choice it comes across as offensive.
Another reason is that it is associated with the "cognitive dissonance" that is associated with eating meat.  Eating meat causes people to feel messed up.
Vegans are seen as a threat to the status quo and challenging norms. These kinds of changes makes people sit on the edge.
The war against vegans is about "how individual freedom is coming into conflict with a personal and environmental health crisis" says George Reynolds.
