Laundry Products Market Share: US, UK, Australia

Goals

To identify the market shares of pods, liquid detergent, liquid concentrate, powder, and tablets in the laundry category in the US, UK and Australia in order to inform internal strategy.

Early Findings

We were unable to determine an exact percentage of US market share for the pods segment and the powder segment of the laundry detergent category from any information or data that was recent and publicly available. However, our initial research on the US laundry detergent market did reveal insights. Here are key pieces of information we found:
US Laundry Detergent MarketDemand in the US laundry detergent market is being dominated by the growing popularity of liquid products that have experienced tremendous growth over powder products.
 Proctor & Gamble is the undisputed leader in the US laundry detergent market and has the majority of market share. 
The pods segment is expected to grow in its market value during the 2020-2025 forecast period from $2.85 to $3.54 billion by 2025.
 The liquid detergent and liquid concentrate segment is estimated to grow in its market share during the 2018-2025 forecast period to 26.0% by 2025.
The powder segment is expected to decrease in its market share in the US, while still dominating the global market share during the 2018-2025 forecast period, with strong growth in developing economies such as China, India, and Brazil, due to its less expensive cost.
The tablets segment market share is expected to decrease during the 2018-2025 forecast period to 12.1% by 2025.
