Early Findings
Podcasting on iTunes
Podcasters who are planning to launch their channels are advised to
use Apple Podcasts (formerly iTunes)
as their platform given its large share of podcast listeners.
For new podcasters, they are often advised that their
visibility on the iTunes platform
will be more beneficial if they have several episodes aready available. The platform showcases new podcasts in its "
New and Notable"
category.
Apple's iTunes
also features curated collections and various chart categories that can make it easier for listeners to find podcasts under certain topics.
Currently, iTunes accounts for
75% of the global digital music
industry.
For new podcasters, the recommendation is to use Apple Podcasts as it has the
largest directory.
Summary of Findings:
During our one hour of research, we were not able to directly find the reasons why up and coming podcasts are focusing on releasing their content on iTunes as opposed to other platforms.
What we found are some of the advantages of using the iTunes platform for beginners and for podcasters in general.
