Proprietary Database Search Results

In addition to this public search, we scanned our proprietary research database of over 1 million sources and were unable to find any specific research reports that address the stated goals.

Summary of Findings

  • In our initial hour of research, we provided the total number of hate crime incidents and the number of racist hate crime incidents from the total number of hate crime incidents reported in Tennessee from 2000 to 2005.
  • It is likely that hate crime statistics for 2019 may not be released yet.
  • We also provided the number and names of active hate groups in Tennessee.
  • Due to shortage of time, we did not focus on major hate crime incidents in the state.

Proposed next steps:

You need to be the project owner to select a next step.
Since our initial hour of research provided the total number of hate crime incidents and the number of racist hate crime incidents from the total number of hate crime incidents reported in Tennessee from 2000 to 2005, we recommend further research to find the number of hate crime and racist hate crime incidents in the state from 2006 to 2018. Since it is likely that hate crime statistics for 2019 may not be released yet, to cover the last 20 years, we will include hate crime statistics from 1999 as well.
We recommend further research to identify 5-7 major hate crime incidents (e.g., mass shootings) in Tennessee state over the last 20-30 years. For each incident, we will provide a brief overview of the incident as well as details on the suspect, victims (e.g., race/religion of victims), city/county, date, and incident location (e.g., church, mall). We will prioritize incidents of racial hate crimes but will expand to all hate crimes as necessary.
To analyze which cities have the most number of hate crimes and racial hate crimes, we can identify 5 cities with the highest number of hate crimes and racial hate crimes in Tennessee state from 1999 to 2018 using the FBI data.
