Research Outline

Neuromodulation and Medical Device Investors

Goals

To identify potential investors for Neuroenhancement Lab by compiling a list of early-stage investors with an expressed interest and/or history of investing in medical devices and/or neuromodulation, including each investors' type, preferred stage of investment, typical investment size, investing track record and contact person/contact details. Findings will ideally be provided in spreadsheet format.

Early Findings

Neuromodulation and Medical Device Investors

  • The research team compiled an initial inventory of early-stage investors with an expressed interest and/or history of investing in medical devices or neuromodulation within the enclosed spreadsheet.
  • In addition to providing the requested details for each investor (i.e., type, preferred stage of investment, typical investment size, (relevant) investing track record and a contact person/contact details), the research team also included a brief, relevant description of the company, its website and corporate contact information (as readily available).
  • Examples of those investors identified during the first hour of research are:
    • Genesys Capital, a venture capital fund that prefers early-stage investing (seed to Series B) and has a history of investing in both neuromodulation startups (Functional Neuromodulation, EBT Medical) and medical device startups (Flosonics).
    • Medtronic, a public corporation that invests across the spectrum of stages and similarly has a track record of investing in both neuromodulation startups (Functional Neuromodulation, Saluda Medical) and medical device startups (Triple Jump Medical, BioProtect, FIRE1).
    • Thuja Capital, a micro venture capital fund that prefers early-stage investing (seed to Series B) and has a history of investing in both neuromodulation startups (Salvia BioElectronics) and medical device startups (Indigo Diabetes, ATRO Medical ).

Summary of Findings

  • The research team used the first hour of research to confirm the availability of information about early-stage investors in neuromodulation and/or medical devices as well as provide an initial listing of potential investors within the requested spreadsheet.
  • Given that a geographic scope for this project was not provided, the research team assumed that investors from around the world would be acceptable, in order to create the most robust inventory of potential investors possible. If investors from a specific country (e.g., United States) or region (e.g., North America) are desired for future research, this would need to be specified in a follow-up comment.
  • Initial research suggests there is substantial information in the public domain regarding investors that have an interest and/or history in investing in both of these areas. As such, we recommend proceeding with one or more of the following next steps.
