To obtain a list of trending and relevant topics that are of great interest or importance to today's Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). This will help inform your content marketing strategy targeted at this group.

Early Findings

  • The CMO Council recently released a list of some of the most important topics being discussed among CMOs. Top of the list is "C-suite engagement and relationship building." About three-quarter (74%) of those surveyed admitted discussing topics relating to collaborating with other C-suite personnel, while more than half (53%) stated they discuss topics relating to consumer trends and insights.
  • According to a study by Forbes, "marketing innovation" is the most common topic of interest among chief marketing officers(CMOs). Almost a third (30%) of CMOs surveyed revealed that they are most interested in topics surrounding marketing innovations such as data-driven marketing, personalized experience, and innovative touchpoints. A quarter (25%) identified "brand fundamentals" as another key trending topic covering subtopics like consumer centricity and storytelling. The third most interesting topic to CMOs according to the study is "artificial intelligence," covering major subtopics such as data analytics, and smart assistants.
  • "Marketing automation" is also a common topic among CMOs. According to Oracle, marketing automation is currently being debated by marketers, mostly hovering on the challenges of automation and how best to mitigate the process.
