Families and Living Arrangements

Goals

To provide an analysis of the number of middle/high-income families with children 2-5 years old in countries/regions like the US, UK, EU, and BRICS.

Early Findings

United States
According to the Pew Research Center, about 52% of adults lived in middle-class households, followed by 29% of adults in lower-income households.
Pew Research Center also estimates that about 19% of adults in the U.S. live in upper-income households. 
As of 2019, there are about 23.1 million children in the United States in the age group of 0-5 years.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there were about 83,482 families in 2019 with own children under 18 years.
United Kingdom
According to the OECD report, about 58% of the UK population lives in the middle-income group, and 11% in the upper-income group.
About 59% of the millennials in the UK live in the middle-income group.
According to the 2019 report of the Office for National Statistics, there are 698,200 households containing at least one child in 0 years age group.
 Office for National Statistics report also estimates that there are 2,159,700 households with at least one child in the age group of 1-3 years and 1,583,500 households with at least one child in the age group of 4-5 years.
