To find the political affiliation of business owners in Gwinnett County (Georgia) for the purpose of determining their editorial topics of interest.

Early Findings

Gwinnett County Political Affiliation

  • Based on our initial research, there seems to be no information in the public domain regarding the political affiliation of business owners, specifically in Gwinnett County. However, we were able to identify some useful data regarding the voting pattern in Gwinnett County in the last couple of presidential elections.
  • In the latest presidential elections in 2020, 58.5% of the people in Gwinnett County voted for the Democratic Party, 40.2% voted for the Republican Party, and the remaining 1.4% voted for Independent candidates.
  • The 2020 results were in line with the 2016 election results trend. In the 2016 presidential elections, 50.2% of the people in Gwinnett County voted for the Democratic Party, 44.4% voted for the Republican Party, and the remaining 5.4% voted for Independent candidates.
  • The year 2016 saw a major development and change as Gwinnett county for the first time since the year 2000 voted in favor of the Democratic party after having voted in favor of the Republican party in the previous four elections.
  • As per a nationwide Square/Gallup online survey of small-business owners done in February 2020, 60% of small-business owners approved of the job that Donald Trump had done as president, and 52% thought that their business would be better off if he is reelected. Only 41% of them thought that they would be better off if the Democratic nominee wins the election.
  • Further, the survey highlighted that small-business owners favored the Republican Party for resolving issues related to taxes, immigration, and tariffs, and the Democratic Party for healthcare and climate change issues. No such survey could be found for Gwinnett County during our initial research.
