TikTok - Users, Videos and Brands.

Goals

To identify the most popular videos, users, and brands on TikTok. This will help develop a new business pitch.

Early Findings

  • Business Insider recently published a list of the most popular creators on the platform. The list focuses exclusively on users and creators; popular brands were completely left out.
  • MAC cosmetics is credited with running the most successful campaign on TikTok. Its #YouOwnIt videos have been seen approximately 2.3 billion times on the platform. The ad features a young lady who was frustrated by her situation but later got a makeover. The campaign was developed by Pulse Advertising, a Germany-based ad agency.
  • Chipotle is another major brand to have achieved significant success on the platform. In fact, it was the first restaurant brand to run ads on the platform. Its campaign, #ChipotleLidFlip hashtag, has generated over 230 million views and is the highest-performing branded challenge in the U.S. to date.

Summary Of Our Early Findings Relevant To The Goals

  • In our initial hour of research, we were able to identify the most followed influencers on TikTok. We were also able to identify two examples of major brands that have achieved massive success on the platform, along with the campaigns they ran.
  • TikTok does not publicly share a list of the top videos on its platform, rather it focuses only on publicizing the top trending or "viral" videos of the moment.
