Population by Age Group of Various Cities

Goals
To determine the population of Generation Z, or iGeneration (Teens & younger); Millennials, or Generation Y (18 – 34 years old)
; Generation X (roughly 35 – 49 years old)
; and Baby Boomers (roughly 50 to 69 years old) in the following cities: Baltimore, Philadelphia
, and Chicago.
Early Findings
City of Baltimore Population
- The U.S. Census Bureau estimated that the total population in Baltimore by July 1, 2018 was 602,495 people.
- The median age is 35.6 years
- The total population of persons under 18 years is 123,177 people. This number is comprises the following age groups: under 5 years (37,992), 5-13 years (60,792), 14-17 years (24,393).
- Millennials, or Generation Y (18 – 34 years old)
are 172, 760 people (that is, 18-24 years (57,277), 25-29 years (60,669) and 30-34 years (54,814).
- Generation X (roughly 35 – 49 years old)
are 108,862 people (that is, 35-39 years (42,670), 40-44 years (32,944) and 45-49 years (33,248)).
- Baby Boomers (roughly 50 to 69 years old) are 142,989 people (that is, 50-54 year (36,781), 55-59 years (40,008), 60-64 years (36,520), and 65-69 years (29,680)).
