Residential Real Estate Apps - Market Growth

Goals

To determine how much the number of residential real estate apps (i.e., for home buying/selling and search) has increased since 2015, to be presented in number of apps available across different years, or increase in usage of these types of apps.

Early Findings

Our initial research indicates that market research on real estate apps is combined with real estate software. While these reports contain information about the historical growth trends of the market, none of that information is available in the report summaries. Anecdotal evidence supports the assertion that apps have proliferated in recent years, but qualitative information about apps in this market is fairly scarce (or behind paywalls). Our search through various app databases, such as GetApp and AppShopper, did not provide any useful filters for search for real estate apps specific to buying or searching for property.

  • Across all aspects of the real estate industry, tech investment is supporting tech advancement.
  • One reason that information about the rise of real estate apps post-2015 may not be widely covered, is that the space was birthed in 2006 and gained traction long before 2015.
  • By 2013, 80% of residential home buyers were using mobile search during their house hunting process. That figure rose to over 90% by 2018.
  • As of 2018, fewer than 1% of real estate agents had their own app.

In addition to this public search, we scanned our proprietary research database of over 1 million sources and were unable to find any specific research reports that address your goals.
