Selling Houses with Solar Leases

Goals

To overcome challenges of selling houses with solar leases to potential customers by addressing their concerns, emphasizing the benefits of solar leases, and verifying that selling houses with solar leases is easier and faster than selling homes that do not have solar leases.

Early Findings

Our background research on overcoming challenges of selling houses with solar leases revealed insights. Here are some key pieces of information we found:

Overcoming Potential Customer Concerns:

  • Potential customers may have concerns about qualifying for a solar lease as an incoming buyer. However, solar leases are encouraged as still the best choice rather than buying if "you do not have a high enough income, or you are a non-profit organization, and cannot take advantage of solar tax credits and deductions."
  • Potential customers may also be concerned about bad solar lease terms. However, negotiating terms with solar leases is still the best option versus buying if "you want a solar system, but lack in cash or do not have access to a well-structured loan."
