Top Male Musicians - Streetwear Influencers

Goals

To build a list of the top 20 male musicians who influence street fashion in the United States. To ultimately have that list with the musician's name, a link to their Instagram, their Instagram following and some sort of proof or reference that they influence streetwear style, along with information whether they have any endorsements with other competitor big shoe brands like Nike, Adidas, Puma, Vans, and others like them.

Early Findings

Rae Sremmurd

  • Who they are: trend-setting hip-hop duo.
  • Proof or reference that they influence streetwear style: They are hip-hop's go-to party duo representing the next wave in rap fashion with their willingness to meld high fashion brands (they love Gucci goggles) with their "country boy" roots.
  • They are Puma’s latest brand ambassador.

Amos Lee

  • Who he is: Soul folk-soul artist.
  • Proof or reference that they influence streetwear style: John Varvatos, a designer and a pioneer of turning rock stars into campaign models works with Amos Lee.
  • He describes wearing Varvatos’ clothing in much the same way as working with him: “A good fit. Never like, I’m trying too hard or doing something that doesn’t feel right.”
  • This brings Amos Lee, who released the album Spirit in August, further into the fashion spotlight.

Pharrell Williams

Young Thug

  • Who he is: Rapper with a celebrated, sometimes controversial sense of style.
  • Proof or reference that they influence streetwear style: On the cover of Jeffery, Young Thug wears a ruffled periwinkle gown, an image that sums up the inventive rapper’s approach to fashion: “When it comes to swag,” he says, “there’s no gender involved.”
  • SPIDER, Young Thug's fashion brand with a covert design team based in Los Angeles, made its formal debut in London in July 2019.
  • Instagram link, but there was no blue verified check mark so we cannot be sure.

Post Malone

  • Who he is: He is an American rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer. He has gained acclaim for blending musical genres including pop, rap and rock.
  • Proof or reference that they influence streetwear style:
  • Malone has style. Good style. His look is fun-loving, complete with cheeky Western tropes like get-rich-quick, chain-stitched suits and floss-thin bolero ties. Sometimes, he will throw on a hyped-about piece, like a Gosha Rubchinskiy jersey; others, he might resemble a sweet Hells Angels reject in a leather vest and white T-shirt.
  • Post Malone has collaborated with Crocs footwear. He has designed his own shoe for the brand and those "Posty Crocs" are currently a hot commodity on the market.
