Travel Volumes Popular Routes

Goals

To find information on the travel volumes of the provided popular routes in the United States for bus, train, domestic flights, one-way car rentals, and carpool ridesharing.

Early Findings

  • Using Google Maps, the distances between the cities in the popular routes were computed and entered in the attached spreadsheet. All routes that did not meet the research threshhold were left out.
  • Information on the travel volume by domestic flights was also added to the spreadsheet for the identified routes that are less than a 20-hour drive/1,200 miles.
  • More research is required to provide the travel volume by trains, bus, one-way car rentals, and carpool ridesharing.
