Parking Permits in the United States

Goals

To understand more about parking permits: different types, who issues them, the application requirements of what is needed to obtain one, and how much it costs in order to write a blog post.

To understand relevant data and specific information about permits in major cities across the US in order to write a blog post.

Early Findings

Our background research on parking permits in the United States revealed insights. Here are some key pieces of information we found:
Parking Permits OverviewSome common types of parking permits are: residential, disabled, student, employee, and visitor.
 Most cities issue residential parking permits that provide free parking for residents.
 All states issue special permits for disabled people so that they can access parking that is close to all public facilities.
 Colleges and universities issue student parking permits and employee parking permits for faculty and staff to manage campus parking.
 Many other employers issue employee parking permits so that visitor spaces can remain open, often with the stipulation that any employees receiving a mass transit benefit are not eligible for parking permits.
Visitor permits may be issued by cities, government agencies, colleges, universities, and businesses.
