Early Findings
In New York City, Lyft has a fleet size of
47,000
while Uber has 76,000.
In Las Vegas, Lyft partnered with Aptiv to provide
5000 rides using 20 self-driving
cars and there are plans to expand the fleet as well as the number of destinations. The company has facilitated
35,00 rides
with this partnership.
Lyft also intends to make a similar partnership with Ford for "an automated
ride-hailing fleet by 2021
".
Lyft had
30.7 million riders in 2018
in North America and 1.9 million drivers.
Investors are somewhat optimistic that Uber will
become profitable
as soon as it launches a fleet of self-driving vehicles.
There is currently a
cap on the fleet size
for Uber and Lyft in NYC.
On a monthly basis,
40 million rides
are completed by Uber in the U.S.
