Investors: Camping, Van Rentals, and Curated Communities

Goals

To find information on potential investors for a seed-stage startup that offers services in: 1. Camper van rentals, leasing, and/or manufacturing such as Airbnb, and Outdoorsy, 2. Camping space rentals and reservations, such as Turo, and 3. A curated in-person travel-based community like hostels and BeUnsettled.co. An additional goal is to find the top technology startups in the three categories. 

Early Findings

An example of a technology startup in the camper van rentals space is Cabana, an organization that is based in Seattle. 
The tech startup was founded by former Seattle Department of Transportation head Scott Kubly. 
Cabana's business model revolves around the renovation of cargo vans into campers that can be rented using a mobile app. 
The company recently closed a $3.5 million seed funding round that was led by Craft Ventures with participation from Bird CEO Travis VanderZanden and Ford X President Sunny Madra.

Outdoorsy also landed capital during a funding round that was led by Aviva Ventures and Altos Ventures, with participation from Tandem Capital and Autotech Ventures.

 Campanda is another example of a camper van rental startup.
In 2019, AutoCamp announced a $115 million round of investment. The investment round was led by Whitman Peterson.
